The Town of Sutton
Sutton is one of 20 municipalities in the M.R.C. of Brome-Missisquoi.
Located in the southern part of the Monteregie region about 100km. south east of Montreal, with a permanent population of 4047 residents.

Sutton has an area of 243,5 km2, one of the largest in the M.R.C. (16.5%).
IIt includes North Sutton, Sutton Junction, Mont-Echo, West Sutton, the Village of Sutton, Mont Sutton and Glen Sutton near the American border.

Council Meeting
Council meetings are held every first Monday of the month at the Town Hall starting at 19h30 (except Holidays). The public is invited to attend.

Public Notices
All public notices are posted at the Town Hall and in the local newspapers.

The main sources of income for the Town of Sutton are, in order of importance:

Water, garbage and sewer taxes
Taxes on residential immovables
Taxes on non-residential immovables
Subsidies replacing taxes from Canada and Québec for governments buildings, installations and equipment on municipal territory

General Informations

Burning permits:
It is mandatory to advise the Fire Station (450 538-2448) in advance of any burning, throughout the year. A permit is free of charge and must be obtained at least 24 hours before your intended fire. All fires have to be extinguished by nightfall.

Change of address:
Change of addresses should be called in or mailed to the the Town Hall.

Dogs:
Only two (2) dogs are permitted per residence. It is important to remember that all dogs must be confined to the property of their owners. They must be on a leash at all times when on public property. Also, every dog must be licenced, (a single license is good for the dog's lifetime) which can be obtained at the Town Hall, at the cost of $10. Owners are responsible to clean up after their pets. Constant barking and/or howling is prohibited. Please respect the rights of others and be responsible for your pets. Complaints may be forwarded to the Town Hall at:450 538-2290

Municipal Correspondance:
A mail deposit box (or slot)situated at the right of the entrace of the Town Hall iis available for use to our residents outside of regular office hours. Questions and concerns can also be forwarded to: ville@sutton.ca

Street Lights:
Advise the Town Hall of any street lights malfunction, by calling 450 538-2290 during regular business hours. The administration will forward the informations to the proper authorities for repairs.

Municipal Taxes Paiement:
Taxes are due in March, May and August of each year.
